Made in the USA, CHIMCARE wind directional chimney cap helps prevent problematic downdrafts in a fireplace. Its stainless steel construction assures long life and rust-free performance. Despite adverse weather, it will not rust. People refer to it by many different names - Directional Wind Cap, Roman Helmet, Rooster Tail and other names.
Wind directional Stainless Steel chimney caps (sometimes referred to as draft-increasing chimney wind caps) are an excellent option if you have issues with wind-induced downdrafts or have a draft-heavy fireplace. It is designed to be an effective solution to downdraft issue in windy areas. They help your fireplace vent properly by forcing smoke upward and out of your chimney. The cap separates the wind stream as it flows over the cap, while the rotating hood is kept in proper position (relative to the wind) by the wind vane. Air movement past the hood creates a partial vacuum in the flue, enhancing draft efficiency and helping to prevent cold and unwanted downdrafts. Due to this, the efficiency of a stove or fireplace is increased. An added feature is the mesh screen that provides a measure of safety by helping to contain sparks.
